Abstract

Elastic and shear moduli can be calculated from the free vibrations of bar-shaped specimens. For this purpose, an overview of the theoretical bases for calculating these moduli has been presented. At FMPA, a new device has been developed allowing the measurement of these moduli. This device was compared to the GrindoSonic device. Both devices allowed very satisfactory evaluation of the moduli, although they have very different characteristics.
