Abstract

English Translation: “Mechanical stress grading” is a non-destructive test that was originally based on the dynamic (in-line) determination of the E-modulus. More recent developments do not use deflection, but provide values that are directly correlated with the studied characteristic. Mechanical strength grading machines can take into account various aspects of the wood such as knots, cracks, grain angle, or physical and mechanical characteristics such as density and elastic modulus.
