Abstract

This article describes a fast and completely non-destructive method for testing grinding wheel hardness. The method is based on a simple measurement of the natural frequency using the GrindoSonic apparatus.

The study shows that the numerical value indicated by the apparatus represents the relative hardness of the grinding wheel. This makes it possible to directly evaluate hardness differences between two similar grinding wheels, regardless of their shape.

Key Benefits

  • Fast, non-destructive testing
  • Direct correlation with relative hardness
  • Shape-independent measurement
  • Suitable for production quality control
